Up the Mountain

Our local wild turkey population seems to be holding steady at seven for the moment.

A few days ago, there was a one-car accident where the driver failed to notice where the road curved, and split open his skull; there wasn't any sign that he even tried to hit his brakes. I was on my way to my day-job, and a long line of us were effectively trapped on the narrow mountain road until the emergency crews could do what they could. (The closest detour was on the order of twenty or thirty miles.)

One nice outcome of this is that I met Nurse Hiker, who was also similarly trapped in line. She's into hiking and geocaching, and, like me, had also been looking for a hiking partner for the sake of safety. We hit it off, and yesterday went on our first hike together. We had a good time, although never could find the desired geocache. We're supposed to get together again on Monday.

If I don't write again later, have an easy fast.
